Duties and Responsibilities
The ExoMol group at UCL’s Department of Physics and Astronomy is looking to recruit a team of enthusiastic scientists to work on the ERC funded ExoMolHD project. The project will use quantum mechanical methods to provide high quality molecular data for the study and characterisation of the atmospheres of exoplanets and other hot methods.
We are looking for a researcher to work on development and application methods of molecular quantum mechanics for producing temperature-dependent pressure shifts and pressure broadening parameters.
Interested candidates are welcome to contact Sergey Yurchenko (s.yurchenko@ucl.ac.uk) and Jonathan Tennyson (j.tennyson@ucl.ac.uk) for informal discussion prior to application.
Duration of this position is funded for 3 years in the first instance and will start any time soon.
Key Requirements
The successful applicant will have a PhD in Physics, Chemistry or Astronomy or closely related subject. They should have a strong background in molecular quantum mechanics; some knowledge of molecular spectroscopy and good programming skills are desirable. Candidates should also have excellent written and verbal communication.
