The Frontiers of Materials Modeling - TYC 10th Anniversary Symposium

Radisson Blu Edwardian Vanderbilt:  17th - 19th February 2016

The Frontiers of Materials Modelling Symposium will be an international conference that will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the foundation of the Thomas Young Centre (TYC). The meeting will bring together a world-class line up of invited speakers to mark the centre’s 10th birthday, celebrate the progress in theory and simulation of materials over the past ten years, and to look ahead to what might be in store in the next ten years.

The first two days of the symposium is open to the entire TYC community of group leaders, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate and undergraduate students, and will be devoted to ten keynote talks in which the speakers will include a historical perspective on recent progress in their research area, and predictions about the trajectory their field may take over the coming decade or more.

The third and final day is reserved for a smaller group consisting of TYC group leaders, the keynote speakers and key industrial partners of the TYC.  The day will be devoted to discussions about the future of the theory and simulation of materials (TSM) with the aim of developing a "Roadmap of Materials Modelling" that identifies and articulates the most important challenges in TSM over the next 10-20 years, broad strategies for how they will be overcome, and the likely impact of success in overcoming them for science and industry.
